I am not sure how people teach business communication here, but usually students in the US or Europe have to read several chapters or articles before coming to class. The most interesting way to teach is first to review and discuss the readings with students, BEFORE doing a lecture. These two things are not separate: readings form the basis for the information in the lecture and of things students need to learn.
